Here's to the people who still listen to cassetes! :D

F*ck, I love cassetes.
I know. And they have so much more space than CDs. Why'd they disappear?

I have a bunch of my mom's Zeppelin, Doors, Clapton, Who, and Styx stuff on cassette.

I also love cassettes. The thing is, they are so much cheaper - you can get two tapes both of which taken together do not go beyond the price of one CD.

The second, at least equally important thing is, portable tape players are much more convenient, as they are smaller. Some people would say, 'Why don't you get an MP3 player then, it's the smallest of all'. Dammit, look at the price. And, however, the quality of MP3 files is still much lower.

And the third thing that I like cassettes for is that the proportions of tape boxes make them much more durable than CD boxes. It is almost impossible to put a handful of CDs in a bag full of everything and to take them out after an hour without any damage on at least one. If you do the same with tapes, the chances that the boxes will survive without cracks grow higher.

Nothing happened to me, I've been trying to return to start the next rounds of Survivor, but other than that been too busy recently. There was once a time I would log on here at the same time as logging on to my computer, but I have got a bit bored recently. Maybe I will start posting a bit more again, but if I don't and anyone misses me, I do post a little bit at macrumors.com too.

Nice to know some remember me.

[Sarcasm]Yeah, cassettes are great. They sound so hyigh quality[/Sarcasm]

Seriously though, mp3 sounds almost as bad when played through similar equipment, but is more convienient and less likely to get chewed up. Might try and get hold of a DAT recorder before they become completely extinct though as you can record in above CD quality on them, always good for a live concert or two.

That's me alright, I also have many other Tux avatars to use if needed. I am tempted to switch over to either my Finder avatar or Deep Thought one.

Of course I remember you. We joined PFO less that two hundred registrations apart and that aside, you're the unforgettable friendly neighborhood smart ass which I adore despite our differences and minor conflicts.

:)

I am not a smart ass, I just know a lot of meaningless nonsense and can look things I am unsure about up in a flash before posting. If I recall, when i was your age, I wasn't as well informed on that many subjects, but since I seem to have a mild form of OCD, (once I start doing something, I become quite obsessed with it for at least a short period), whatever I have known about, I have always become a near expert on it immediately. I love knowledge and learning.

Speaking of which, my beard is again slowly taking root on my face, but with shorter hair this time, I have been getting many more people saying it suits me. It's been about a month now, but it doesn't grow fast on me. Maybe another month or so and I will appear to be a wise old man.
