Classic Rock is the stuff that's left behind when everybody forgets about all the horrible music that existed alongside what is now considered Classic Rock.

It's what enough people (if not most) consider the best, old rock and roll.

I never thought I'd live to see the day that Styx and Journey were considered Classic Rock, but I'm not the guy who makes up FM playlists.

Classic rock isn't REALLY a genre of music.
It's just rock music that was popular in the 60s-80s.

Now really, can you SERIOUSLY tell me that Yes and AC/DC can be grouped in the same genre? No, you can't.

To me, AC/DC is not classic rock. Styx is not classic rock. Journey is borderline, I call Journey Pop Rock

I don't think that old men ought to promote wars for young men to fight

I remember the last time this came up somebody said that classic rock is not a genre, it's a radio format. That about gets it.

Some kid called Sabbath classic rock, & I went, nah, Doors are classic rock, but Sabbath is 'currently' cool.

Doors are cool, but have a dated sound. Sabs sound grungy. Closer to Nirvana soundwise than any other 70's rock band.

oops! this should be outside the box..lol
cb's point strengthens it, what each of us considers classic is influenced by so many things that you can't really call it a genre
that nails it right there rd...agreed
