And the three words that best describe Maradona: FAT OVERRATED CHEAT. There are better footballers in history than him, and to compare him to M. Ali, the sportsman par excellence, is ridiculous. That 'Hand of God' nonsense when he cheated his way to the World Cup passed England. In Argentina's 2-1 victory, with both goals by the man, one was the aforementioned blatant cheating hand ball, and the other, often described as a great goal, was as much down to terrible defending by England, esp. Terry Fenwick, than any genius on Maradona's part. Obviously it was still a very good goal compared to most, but I could easily think of 10 better from more recent tournaments.

'Hand of God' my arse! Hand of a fat cheat more like. Now, if any sportsman ever did have any attribute worthy of being compared to such a divine force, it is without any question Ali's gloved hands. The fabled 'invisible punch' against Liston that was too fast to be seen at the time; the lightning combination of punches which had far more grace than any ballerina against Foreman, starting with that unbelievable jab, after being beaten like hell on the ropes for many rounds. That is true sporting greatness like no other.
