Totally. Neil Young is one of the greatest songwriters, ever.

I thought it was actually very nice. Clapton was playing with a lot of soul. I felt Waters did a fine job at it. Thoughts of Syd came into my mind when seeing him sing, perhaps there were some in his mind too. Overall I felt it was the most emotional performance there, but perhaps I'm a little biased.
Very nice, great to see one of my favorite songs being broadcast on about 5 different stations simultaneously :D

I agree with wowser, he started a topic in Outside the Wall encouraging you all to donate to the relief effort, if memory serves me correct only wowser, floydianyid and I posted in that topic. then we hear all about Mr. Waters playing in the benefit concert and suddenly everyone has an interest in it, yet we barely hear a mention about the disaster unless it is in the context of "Weak performance, but in a good cause". I hope you all did donate either before or during the concert.

Thankyou, Steve. Your thoughts ring very true! Also, I could almost take Interglactic's comment, if he had not got a history of posting abosolute crap, himself. Which he has, as his Canadian post has just illustrated.

I myself would have participated in the Tsunami discussion ,, but I have been following the tragedy so much in the paper and television that when I come to the forum I guess I am looking for something else....... I would hope that we as a group of Floyd fans share the elements of utter sadness and have a deep sense of empathy and compassion for these suffering people... I am a very proud Canadian at all times, but especially now considering the way Canadians ( AND OUR CELEBRITIES and OUR GOV'T) HAVE RESPONDED TO THIS TRAGEDY.....I'm hopeful that everyone here has areason to feel the same way about their country....

What annoyed me was that not a single topic was made about it for a few days, (and I am disgusted about myself not starting one too), but when the one that wowser started only got a single reply each from floydianyid and I, I was shocked and surprised. But suddenly lots of people had an interest in it once they heard Roger was playing at a benefit concert for it. I guess it worked though, getting celebrities on board is designed to raise the profile of a charity and it sure did that.

It's human nature, SH. People don't help others out of a sense of caring or to alleviate suffering, they do it for autographed mugs, phones, scripts, etc. But if it gets money, food, medicine, etc. to those people, the end justifies the means; you have to accept the nature of humanity and use it accordingly.
A Pink Floyd website, even one that has an Outside the Wall forum, is not the place you go to discuss international disasters. Besides, the topic started by wowser was not a discussion one, but a list of links to donation sites as I recall...it did not beg responses. Perhaps people wished to keep their donations a private matter and not announce them to everyone on the forum. But if you're really curious, I have donated my last two paychecks to the Red Cross. I just don't see what there is to discuss: it was, is, a horrible tragedy, to be sure, but I can't think of a thing to say about it that hasn't been said already. What aspect of it would you like to talk about?
If it ain't dirty, don't clean it.

Im sorry Steve, but in today's world of very selfish people there are still enough of us out there to overide it.... besides most of our board members couldn't find Indonesia if you gave them a map......not a criticism but it's just the way it is.....
