Yeah, In The Flesh live was a good one. I don't know, The Wall was kind of weird in terms of Gilmour's singing. There was certainly a lot of late 70s influence in there.

But Dave can go into a higher register than Roger can, and that works really well on tracks like Time. Comfortably Numb is one of my favorites in terms of vocals by David. I'm not exactly sure why, the vocals just really work on that song.

dave back in the 70s had a brilliant voice, I cant say the same today, his voice is not the same. I always preferred most Gilmour songs over Rogers. Rogers voice is good but also I find it weird at the same time. (dont ask me y)

Funny how perceprtions differ. Some say a singer is good while others say he is bad.

I think that the 3 of them, Dave, Rick and Roger had voices that suited what they were singing. Can you imagine Robert Plant singing Us and Them?

Dave does have a sweet voice and Rick's suits it and they must have known this because so many floyd songs are Dave and Rick singing together or in parts. Roger's suits his kind of songs, and has a creepier edge to it.

My personal favourite of Dave's is Green Is The Colour. Find someone else around the time that sung in that quiet yet high pitched voice, it is very exposed in a quiet song like that which would show up every imperfection. He does it beautifully, and then roars hiw way through The Nile Song, great stuff.

Yeah, I think I know what you're saying with the weirdness. In The Flesh was a weird song, I mean, it didn't sound much like DSOTM. In The Flesh was the song where I first thought that the singing was weird. It was good, don't get me wrong, but the Wall was kind of just...different. Meddle and DSOTM were my favorite albums in terms of his voice, and he was at the top of his game in 1977.

Several people have commented that Dave is never recognised for his great talent singing, or playing bass or the other guitars. We should do something about that. Think I'll start a vote thread.

I think Dave's voice is as good or better than ever.
Roger's voice is going.....he has said he may have to quit.
I love both these guys singing but Roger's style is so damn unique and somehow expresses the angst in his music. Waters is great to mimic if you can't sing well like me. Dylan too.
We should have a thread about people that can't carry a tune but sing well.
