Dave has much better voice than Waters has. Smooth, beautiful and sweet are just perfect words to descripe it.

(..Dave sings in Young Lust, doesn't he? I'm not sure. If sings, he can change his voice very well. From pretty raw to smooth. Cool.)

i totally agree! :;): dave's got a beautiful voice! what really impresses me is the way his voice has developed. i mean his vocals seem really warm and mild in the meddle period for instance, a bit raw on the wywh and animals albums and full grown up on the wall and later albums. of course his voice follows the natural course as well :D but it's not only that. his ability of expressing feelings thru his voice is amazing! different albums, different means of expression. this is what i was trying to enhance.

best thoughts to you all! rocker

Doesn't Roger sing Shine on. Unless you're talking about the backing vocals or something. I love his voice on Time too. Very raspy.

In "In the Flesh" the live version, Roger and David trade off singing, it sounds really cool.

It seems like even with Roger in the band, Dave would still sing some of his parts when they played LIVE. I downloaded a 1977 LIVE version of Dogs and David Gilmour sang the entire song. ???

Sorry. I didn't think of that. :D

Anyway, I think it's funny that Dave took a lot of Roger's vocals live when Roger was still in the band. That says a lot. I mean, I don't know how Roger get's through a whole concert by himself. His voice is VERY weak. I'm not saying that as an insult, just a fact.
On a side note, I was reading a list of 100 greatest bass parts the other day and everytime a Floyd song was mentioned it was Dave playing the bass. I thought that was interesting. And funny. No wonder Dave felt he deserved to have The Pink Floyd name. It's not like he just sat around and did nothing all those years!
Heh, I'm obviously partial to Dave  so my comments are meant to be taken lightly!
