Thank you Phil, I did read about REM. It sounded absolutely wonderful. Thanks for posting it. So are you saying that Gilmour isn't as political as Waters? I can see that. Viewing it in that light, I can see why they might be traveling down different paths.

I heard that Gilmour and Mason both said that Ummagumma was an absolute mess as well ("Walking around in the dark aimlessly" or something like that), I was like "Nooooooooo!". And obviously no one in the band except Waters has anything remotely nice to say about The Final Cut... but, that one I can understand...

That would be great. Not that I dislike Us and Them, I just think the studio version is always superior to the live versions. Astronomy Domine, however, always kicks ass live!

Because he had nothing to do with them, that`s why, being orchestral compositions.
Roger`s assertion that "the others don`t have a clue what the album`s about, never will" seems to ring true.
Both songs refer to perhaps the BIGGEST brick of all in "Pink"`s (certainly of Roger Water`s) life - the war, depriving him of a father he never knew.
A theme he expands on much on The Final Cut & his solo material.
Conceptually, Vera & BTBBH are far more important than Comfortably Numb. Although musically, of course, Numb is way better.
The Floyd re-union was nice, but perhaps Rog. was right to go it alone after The Final Cut - he was clearly moving into areas that the others weren`t capable of fathoming.
phil...really. are you a part of the floyd entourage? because you may hear stories about my 5 fav lads. but if you were there, then quote. im not saying that you are wrong. but dont leave yourself open. notice that this site has far more comments to make about roger than david, nick or rick. lets be honest.....roger has the biggest talent of the four and if any one disagrees, talk to david. he knows. how do i know? jealousy.! its green. and he wrote a song about it.....'green is the colour'

Well, Roger did say this. And we all pretty much know that is what Roger thinks anyway.
I don`t necessarily agree that the others didn`t have a clue what The Wall`s about.

I`ve actually heard him say this in a radio interview.
It`s hardly earth-shattering though is it? We know that`s how he feels about the others.

-I will try & quote the time, date & radio station for you.

I agree that Roger has the most talent in the band. Second to none, Captain at full throttle, head honcho, the big cheese, numero uno! And yeah, There is a lot of merit behind what Phil is saying
