He said in Guitar World at the time that he had just bought the Digitech Whammy Pedal that day, and was just playing around. He figured it could do a lot more stuff, but hadn't figured the functions out yet.

Agreed, wicked song. When I first heard it (I heard it as the Echoes: Best Of version) I thought "meh, it's alright". However, when I bought DB I was blown away. That's obviously the way it's meant to be heard, and I can no longer listen to the edited version.

yeah marooned is amazing. i played a cover of that with my band. the stuff isn't that hard with a pedal, except for the seriously trippy part at 3:40 into the song i have no clue how he did that
