So, I was wondering... I've never heard any of Rick's solo, but I can only imagine it'd be good. :)

But, I'd need some help. I only know the title of a few albums, and nothing more. So I was wondering - which album should I get/listen to first? Or any particular tracks?

Any opinions?

This has been covered a few times previously, but here goes.....

"Wet Dream" is from 1978, and has a decidedly laid back, jazzy, light rock feel to it. About half the album is instrumental, the other half sung by Rick. It's keyboards are vintage '78, most certainly. Snowy White does a more than commendable job on guitar, and Mel Collins is on board doing the saxaphone. It's an interesting album that has a certain charm to it. Somewhat hard to find, and often very pricey!

"Zee Identity"(1984) is an experimental album where Rick tried out the brand new at the time Fairlight computerized keyboard technology, in a collaboration with Dave Harris of the band Fashion. This is best described as 80's Style Electrofunk, and is extremely un-Floydlike. Good luck finding it too....took me years to secure a copy on cd, just recently in fact.

"Broken China"(1996) is quite simply a masterpiece. It excells on all fronts....musically, thematically, structurally.....Rick really shows himself on this, and it's one he must remain very proud of. He certainly did Floyd-fans proud! This one can be found on Amazon, along with my rather lengthy, detailed review of it called "Possibly The Best Floydian Solo Effort"....and it really is, trust me.

Also....if you like the "Division Bell" sound(and I gather you do, judging by your sig), you'll almost certainly like "Broken China".....

Broken China is definitely the one to start with! It's about as good as Floyd solo albums ever get, and is better than some of the full-band albums, in my opinion. (I quite like Division Bell, for example, but I would rate Broken China even higher).

Wet Dream is also quite worthwhile.

I've yet to hear the Zee album... have the feeling that I wouldn't like it much, but I still look forward to hearing it someday.

Hmm...honestly...this if the first time I have ever heard of a Rick Wright Solo Album...

I have read what you guys have said about it...but I am seriously wondering...

is it as good as David's or Roger's solo stuff?

"Broken China" is every bit as good! In fact, the trio of "Amused To Death", "On An Island", and this record combined have all the makings for the perfect Floyd album. It's a great study on "the sum of the parts"....
