On Dave's new album, The Blue is a duet with Dave and Rick. I guess you could say that Rick is doing harmonies, but it's mixed more like Echoes or the choruses of Us and Them, with both singers at equal volume. Dave and Rick together--WHAT A COOL SOUND. It's a great song and it's great to hear them singing together. Rick did some nice harmonies on Division Bell and of course the lead on "Wearing the Inside Out," but this is the best example of Dave and Rick singing together since Dark Side of the Moon (the only possible exceptions on on certain live songs like Comfortably Numb). Great stuff!

I heard that track and I really like it. You're right, though. It's very Meddle-ish and Us and Them-ish.

yeah.....thus far, it's my early favorite off the album, for the very reasons you guys just mentioned. Rick's and Dave's voices compliment one another sooooo well. Harkens back to some really fine Floydian moments of yesteryear.

As an aside, my spider-sense is tingling here, and I'm making an early prediction that Echoes will be a featured song in David's mini tour........I've been paying attention to Dave's interviews, and thinking about his touring musicians (especially with Rick being present and his large involvement with the song), and at this point, I'm willing to bet it makes his final list. I know during MLOR touring, he decided to drop it, due to discomfort with some of those lyrics, but he's made mention recently in more than one interview, that the song is one of his favorites. Plus.....his infamous "seagull cries" on guitar during the song would tie in beautifully with his OAI material and themes, so.....here's hoping!

Two other hopefuls would be "Wearing The Inside Out" and "Childhood's End". I've noticed the former is rumored to be included, the later is probably just wishful thinking on my part, but what the hell.

"The Blue" is really fantastic, and there's no doubt that they'll do it live.....but the question remains.....will Rick step out from behind his keyboards and join David up front to sing it? That would be very cool indeed!!

Nice comments! So far, "The Blue" is my early favorite... "Smile" is probably #2.

I think it's kind of a sequel to Marooned. In the lyrics it says "still marooned"...

Same guitar sound as Marooned. Forget which interview but David had mentioned something about it.
