I had a free download on iTunes and I decided to try to find a single or some song to download that I wouldn't be in a rush and go get the album for.

I came across this and wow, Rick's voice sounds really great here! I can't wait to hear him sing more and hopefully that rumored new album will come to happen!

Both versions are awesome! It's funny--Rick's version is grittier and rocks harder, but, the Bowie-sung version is a bit more delicate. Also, it sounds like Rick is singing his original backing vocal part in the Bowie-sung version, so he's switching--on one version he sings Syd's parts and Dave, and on the other version he sings his own parts.

The version of Dark Globe is very nice and touching too. It's so great: David Gilmour releases an EP of Syd material in 2006, and it's a hit! PF lives! rocker

Hell yes! rocker

I think I prefer the Bowie version......his voice sounds more like Syd's. But Rick's version is still great, of course.

And Dave doing Dark Globe is just perfect, I hope he plays it when I see him live soon :D

I know that this is the Rick thread, but I have to say: I just love how Dave does Syd material. There is just so much love in how he presents these songs. I'm not always the biggest Dave fan in the world (Rick is my favorite Floyd member, then Syd), but his doing Syd material is just wonderful.
