Hmm, for some reason I'd never really thought about my favorite Rick solos, but I would definitely have to go with anything on SOYCD. That song is just so amazing, and no one else could make it sound so good with how little is being played, and same with Dave's work on that song. rocker

RIP Rick Wright - 7/28/43 - 9/15/08

The piano on "Nobody Home" was by Bob Ezrin - Rick did the synth (Prophet 5) parts.

Something new I discovered today...on the album & in the movie (during Nobody Home) Pink is watching the TV and catches that clip "Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C." with Jim Nabors saying "Suprise , Suprise, Suprise" (at 2:44 on CD). Evidently, Mr. Nabors was the only one ballsy enough to go to the production staff and demand a few thousand dollars for use of his sound clip -out of all the clips used for the entire album.

I guess Jim's back catalog is not doing particularly well... :)

The "surprise surprise surprise" clip has always been an album highlight for me! rocker

Speaking of Rick's best keyboard solos, the kind of Middle-Eastern sounding solo on Arnold Layne also rules!

High Mesa Floyd Wrote:Don't forget the early years either. His piano work on Remember A Day is incredible, and his playing on Bike is what makes that song so fun. And don't forget the fade out of Matilda Mother.
All those on the A Nice Pair lp are my favorite, Remember A Day & especially ASOS.

Hi--new here by way of introduction. The second half of Shine On.. the initial synth solo is my vote. Rick sometimes seems very reserved (sometimes) so this line being at the forefront is an awesome statement of what he is capable of if handed the reins.

Yeah, I would say that Shine On definitely has some of Rick's best playing!

Is there really any doubt in anyone's mind that the galactic solo from Dogs is the best? :D And the horn thing from the begining of Shine On is really haunting, but the Dogs one is the most techincally challanging.
