I was reading about Rick on wikipedia(one of the last websites that isn't blocked) at school yesterday and near the end it said that he is working on a new album that will come out sometime this year. Does anyone know anything about this?

Haven't heard any concrete info on this project, but he did decline Roger's invite to guest spot on DSOTM material on Waters' tour last year in order to get plugging away on it. He also alluded to it during Floyd's induction into the Hall Of Fame last year, when he asked Dave if he'd be there to play with him, which I'm assuming is his new record(tour too maybe?).

That's Rick for you....quiet and shadowy as ever.....

Yeah, there has been no word about this record at all, although he was supposed to be working on it last summer. Maybe he didn't find the muse, or maybe he is actually working on it and will surprise us one of these days. At any rate, he's certainly being quiet about it, although that would be just like him.

This would be great... particularly if it features lots of instrumentals like Broken China. I must say I prefer Rick's instrumentals to his non-instrumentals (not sure if there's another word for that). Tracks like Drop In From The Top, Sweet July and Satellite are awesome, and I'd love a few more like that.

It would indeed be awesome... but Rick, like all of the Floyds, is a very slow man when it coming to recording and putting out music. I'm hoping it's sooner rather than later, but I'm not getting my hopes up too much... that way, it will be a great pleasant surprise when it happens.

Rick and Roger both need to get cracking on this album thing. It would be ironic indeed if Dave managed to put out another album before either of them did.

I wouldn't count on David there......although I did read some interview where he spoke of releasing a version of OAI with different "early' recordings of the songs, and in a different running order. This was back last spring sometime, so he's maybe forgotten about that now. Would be interesting I think. I would imagine his focus right now would be getting out his concert dvd from said tour.

Can't wait to hear something new by Rick. 'Broken China' totally impressed me, and I want more!
