They were going to change the director's cut version of One Of These Days to include more shots of the others, but apparently most of that material had gone missing/been destroyed so it looks like we are stuck with Nick for that song. Personally, I think it works well visually. It is very rare to get shots of drummers going on as long as that.
My point exactly.

It was released in 74, I think I bought it in late 75, seen a copy of it at a drive in the winter that year.

It looks to me like they speeded the film up at the point Nick lost his stick, for whatever reason. I imagine he calmly reached for the other one, while he carried on playing, but the film makes it appear very frantic.

Nick has always the been focus of attention for me in Pompeii, his very physical style of drumming provides a lot of much needed visual impact into what could otherwise have been a very static film. Cool

Nick Mason is the man!! rocker
dunno if it just me or does Nick seem to be alittle bit pissed off with the fact that he dropped the drumstick. He is is after all the consumate professional.

If you watch carefully, Nick flips one of his sticks during Echoes part 1. It's hard to describe where in the song i think it happens, but i think it is before the funk section when The Band accents on beat one and the "and" of beat 2. someone should look for this the next time the watch pompeii, I am more impressed with him flipping his stick while he is playing than when he drops his stick.

Mason was sooooo solid during their Live 8 Performance. I read somewhere he wanted to play slower song (not that PF played incredibly fast songs to begin with). Anyways Nick didn't need to worry about anything. At first when I heard money i thought that Mason's drum intro was off, but after watching it twice, i realized that Roger wasn't playing the bass line in tempo with the recording of the money sound effects.

wouldn't it be sweet if Floyd played another Pompeii in 2005?

i already have the title: Pink Floyd, live in pompeII

If you look closely when they are panning out during the end of Echoes part 2 you will see that Nick breaks one of his sticks.

During one of these days he is doing all the drum fills, and you can hear him do one slightly wrong, and the way he reacts is quite funny, cos he looks so pissed off!
And when he dropped the stick that was an amazing recovery, the way he smoothly drew another outta the bag next to him! A drummer of pure class!!!! rocker

wow sweet

I think he re-gifted and then he de-gifted and now he's using an upstairs invite as a springboard to a Super Bowl sex romp!
