Personally, I highlight Nick in every song, because he's my all-time favorite rock drummer. I can't imagine Pink Floyd without him. He's phenomenal and mind-bogglingly under-rated.

I wouldn't say I underrate him, but I really can't feel him. Maybe, I just don't have the capability to understand percussions.

Nick is a great drummer without question. I think the art of drumming has to do more with "feel" and knowing when to add certain fills etc, and when not to. Nick has always had a great feel for the Pink Floyd sound and what they were trying to achieve. Lady Floydian mentioned Jimmy Page a few posts back, and I agree with her completely. Although he is a great "guitar player" he's not a great "guitarist"......... if you get my drift. Jimmy can be a very sloppy player at times and that style defines him. David can play circles around Jimmy as he's more of a technition of sorts. That's not a knock on him.......I actually love his playing; The BBC sessions are amazing. That being said however, that style would not fit Pink Floyd.

I guess my whole point is that Nick is great in his own rite..........

Nick Mason is my favourite drummer. Is he the best drummer? No. But he is my favourite. He not only keeps time, but he blends in well with Roger, Rick and Dave, an his drums are so crisp sounding. I love it.

I think Nick's best drumming was The Dark Side of the Moon up to and including Animals. His drumming on Animals is especially great.

I find, that by far, Nick is one of the best drumers, he was back then and he still is. He could easily out drum any of this era's new and improved gay drumers. He needs to show all those drumers who don't know anything what for. However he is probably evenly matched with Niel Peart. Man those times

Hey, I love Nick Mason as much as the next Floydian, but he is not a better drummer than Neil Peart. That's meant with no disrespect intended to either of them.

I here you, Thats what I'm saying, I just didn't clairify. If they went head to toe, all out battle of the drums, Niel Peart wins by a land slide, with no disrespect to Nick Mason. They are both great drummers, but between then Niel wins.
