Nick Mason always seems to use a similar fill at similar times in a song, hes the only drummer ive heard use the fill too, and i always associate it with pink floyd, and for a small part, i really owe nick for helping define floyd to me.
does anyone know what im talking about?
its that Boom, Boom, Boomboom, boom, boomboom.
on the snare and toms. i think he uses it in time i can remember, in breathe, and in echoes and a lot more that i cant quite remember right now.

I always think that everytime I hear it. I love it. I think his drumming is very good and that fill gets me everytime. It's very floundery, if that's the right word.
He uses it in Dogs as well.

its not that nick is very good, hes decent of course, but ive never heard of a drummer working the toms during a verse as much as he does. he just works the toms constantly. you can notice it in echoes right before the part where the vocals come in. stuff like that.

Good point! I have actually never seen anyone point this out in here before! I have the bootleg of pf last gig from the animals tour 77, and it's even more evident there, I think it's especially
strong and dynamic on dogs.
rocks hard! makes the music even more forceful.
I've always loved his drumming on "the thin ice" on the wall live album (the end part were the whole band KICKS in), again nick's drumming makes the thing alot harder and forceful

Nick is (or was) a fine drummer and he's definitely got some unique features in his drumming... and that's great. I don't like drummers who are so "versatile" that they sound like samples.
