Syd wrote the song in 67 after, rumour has it, following this pretty girl around the marketplace as she shopped, it was recorded in Aug of 67 at Abbey Road Studios and was the third single they released, I simply love it...although it actually failed to chart, the first PF single to do so

there is also a video of them performing apples and oranges, it was filmed for american bandstand tv show on pink floyd's american tour, this performance went well, but the next one was the notorious pat boone show where syd just stood blankly when he should have been miming and roger had to take over, i think anyway correct me if i'm wrong. great song anyway

i don't want to know who said "f*ck it" when asked should syd be picked up,that is something that dave,nick rick and roger should never reveal

I agree, I might feel some sentiment towards the person who did say it. Although it was evident that he could not go on.
