In my opinion i dont like Geldofs voice either but in fairness if you had Bob miming to Rogers voice it just wouldnt give the same message and outcome of the movie.

I agree 100%, just would have seemed too unrealistic

Shame the remaining members can't release an EP "Spare Bricks" and put some of those official songs out there, even though i'm sure we all have them anyway!

Personally, I'm glad we have both versions - something slightly different in the great but familiar reminds me why I fell in love with it all those years ago. I also like the live version for the same reason.

I don't remember where I heard it, but I'm sure most of the bits that were made shorter were to fit it onto 4 LP sides without cutting bass or dynamic range.

I think the movie version of "Outside the Wall" is better than the original album and the live version. Also, Mother was a good re-make! Those are the only two I can tell that were completely different, other than the inclusions of "When the Tigers Broke Free" and "What Shall We Do now?"

There is more emotional value in the rerecording of Mother but more pure musically value in the original.
Emotional value is more important then musical value!!! That I am not very fond of the lame chord progression in the original.

I really wish i could find the soundtrack for that film, or just get the DVD, and do it meself.

correction, emotional value IS musical value Smile rockerrocker
