The guy was singing it perfectly as well. I thought it was a CD being played as background music until I realized it was (near perfect) vocals only, no guitar, and then I spotted the chap behind the counter singing it. He would stop to talk about Syd to his silent colleague after a couple of verses before continuing with another verse. I was extremely surprised.

This is a hard poll for me, because I like Syd's solo stuff very much. Certainly I won't vote for Saucerful - there's not enough Syd in it.

Piper has some great songs (Astronomy Domine, Lucifer Sam, Bike), but if you compare Chapter 24 or Scarecrow to his later works, it seems weak.

Madcap has lots of wonderful tunes, my favourite songs like Terrapin, No Good Trying, Octopus, Feel, Here I Go, Golden Hair..., but this is destroyed by the idiotic producers' (yeah, Pink Floyd's) work. If It's In You does not deserve to be there and the false starts are making me feel sick. The album could have been much better with Opel instead of If It's In You and the Opel version of Wouldn't You Miss Me instead of the original one and having edited the false starts.

Barrett is my choice then - it has another couple of great songs - Baby Lemonade, Wolfpack, Gigolo Aunt, Dominoes, Waving My Arms.../I Never Lied To You and is certainly professionally produced.

My poll lists the PF and solo albums Syd played on in full. There weren't many.
