"A Fair Forgery of Pink Floyd" is the new tribute project in the works to Pink Floyd and is to feature more than a dozen bands from Los Angeles, California. The compilation is a 2-CD set and is to be released in August or September of 2002. "A Fair Forgery of Pink Floyd" will be available through Amazon.com, and at national and independent record stores.

It seems everytime some other band or musician records a Floyd song it absolutely sucks....

W4UDX: I agree, the original is always the best! Especially for a band as great as Floyd, it's very difficult to come anywhere near their greatness.

simps: Once? I've heard many bad versions of it.

Yes, I agree PF are very difficult to imitate indeed.

Many bad versions of Another Brick? Maybe I've heard more than 1. I know someone once played me a version they said was frrom the soundtrack of a popular film. Was not impressed.

Are you thinking of the movie "The Faculty"? The so-called band that performed that version was "Class of '99" which isn't really a band but a collection of people from other already famous bands. One of the better covers of ABitW that I've heard unfortunately.

That was probably the film. I didn't see it. Someone played the mp3 and talked about the film. I got really annoyed that he said the film was right to commission a new version rather than play PF's. He knew nothing about music. Was tone death. The important thing is, no one can play PF better than PF can.

The original PF version wouldn't have appealed to the movie's audience anyway, so he would be right in that respect, although it is pathetic and sad that they didn't go with the real version. People these days have lost touch with what real music is. I can't believe how blindly people accept what record labels tell them to like and what is cool and good "music," and it's drilled into their heads to such a degree that they are actually convinced that real/true music sucks! Can't people think for themselves anymore? Sheep! hehe

As usual you've hit the nail directly on the head, there, Jintzey. Agree 100%. I expect most PF fans would. How could they not? You're the greatest.

yes, never trust an american to cover floyd songs, particulary bands from los angeles, but check ou Pickin' On Pink Floyd, a bluegrass tribute - quite funny! I also heard a country version of ABITW
